STORY

He's the proverbial cherry on top!

From a smooth melodic vocal tone that would put any baby to slumber, to a roaring battle cry that’ll frighten your grandmother.

Bert "Dr Hook" Cuzens takes Hatchet Dawns trademark vocals far beyond boundaries & expectations.

“I began performing at an early age, from Musicals, Theatrical Productions to an array of original bands dabbling in all sorts of styles & genres.” BERT CUZENS brings a fresh blend of alternative styles to the table.

"I think it all began for me in the family living room when I was just a kid. I can remember rocking out, with my young talent time microphone, to beta video tapes of John Farnham Live in concert. Early 80 something I mimicked his moves and yes…his glorious mullet too. The Lounge room was my make believe stadium! I've always had aspirations of becoming an entertainer".

BERT CUZENS Musical journey began mid 1999, wagging school to play with a relatively unknown rock outfit. “It was in this band, I first was introduced to fellow Hatchet comrade HOWSIE NOISE.”

HATCHET DAWN’s return to Adelaide after a much publicized tour with Marilyn Manson saw them reconnect and recondition themselves to a new awakening in style and vision. "I had heaps of fun learning and reinterpreting the vocals for Hatchet. It had allot to do with the fact that the style was new to me, so it was a much needed step outside of my comfort zone. Performing the songs live was just the icing on the cake".

After months of rehearsal, a limited number of preview shows around Melbourne, Rob entered the studio to record vocals for the next Hatchet Dawn Project. This saw a rebirth in the direction of the bands vocals and a change of vocal style that would soon become yet another step forward for the band. A new dawn approaches.

"I hope that when our fans listen to the next project, that they listen with new ears. Throw out any caution or expectation. I hope for fans to hear the band for the first time".
